Along
the slopes which go from
Andria to Castel del Monte,
at the beginning of "Parco
dell'Alta Murgia", the
Alicino family owns "Tenuta
Montevitolo", situated at
314 meters on the sea level,
10 Kilometres far from
Andria and about 21
Kilometres from the Adriatic
Sea The Estate, mentioned
in the books about the local
history because of
particular events which took
place here (Brigantaggio),
stretches on 60 hectares
grown with olive and
grapevines.
Inside this wide green
expanse, a white,
nineteenth-century farmhouse
stand in an ancient,
absolute quiet. It is
composed by different
buildings which were once
used as oil-press, wine
cellar, storehouses and
stables, today after long
and meticulous restoration
that has brought the whole
structure to the ancient
beauty, cultural events and
demostrations of different
kinds are held inside it.
The main building of the
whole Estate is the
ecletctic Villa dated to the
beginning of the twentieth
century; it was an ancient
summer residence built on
three levels; now it is a
pleasant relais with eight
comfortable rooms and very
refined suite; from the wide
terraces you can enjoy a
spectacular, breathtaking
landscope, from the hills of
the enigmatic Castel Del
Monte to The Unmistakable
Gargano.
In the ancient crusher
you can visit the
ethnological findings dated
to the eigtheenth and
nineteen century.
Lots of "trulli" of
exquisite workmanship stand
in the surrounding
countryside, among the olive
trees and the grapevines
creating a charming and
unique atmosphere. |
